Joyce Burnett is a member of the firm’s Estates and Trusts Practice Group. She practices exclusively in the area of estates and trusts, which includes wills, trusts, estate administration, estate planning, charitable giving, charitable trusts, charity administration, adult guardianship and trusteeship.
Her recent experience includes:
Drafting a will for a mother who wants to provide for her disabled child; Helping a high net worth couple deal with planning their estate including farmland of significant value because of development potential; Helping a widow administer her husband’s estate; Helping a registered charity resolve issues concerning its registration and issuance of donation receipts. Helping a client leave his estate to charity in a tax-efficient manner

Joyce received a BSc from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1976 and her LL.B. from Dalhousie Law School in 1983. She articled with the Alberta Court of Appeal and a private firm in 1984-1985 and was admitted to the Bar in 1986. She took 13 years off to raise her children. She worked for charities for several years and returned to active practice at Duncan & Craig LLP in 2000.
