Vivian is a partner in our Litigation Group. The main focus of her practice is in the area of Insurance and Tort Litigation, although she also has experience in Administrative Law and General Commercial Litigation. In terms of her insurance practice, she handles property and casualty, commercial and general liability, errors and omissions and directors and officers claims as well as coverage issues. She has experience in arbitration and mediation and has acted as a mediator in the Provincial Court Mediation Program for a number of years.
Vivian has taught courses in Civil Procedure and Professional Responsibility as a sessional lecturer at the University of Alberta Law School since 1998. She served as a Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta from 2003 until 2009. She has also been a member of the Rules of the Court Committee since 2003 and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Lawyers Insurance Association. She has presented seminars for the Legal Education Society of Alberta and Canadian Defence Lawyers and has been published in the Canadian Journal of Insurance Law. She is the consulting editor of the Consolidated Alberta Insurance Statutes and Regulations and is involved in editing Stevenson & Cote’s Alberta Civil Procedure Handbook. She also volunteers her time at the Edmonton Community Legal Clinic.
Vivian was admitted to the Bar in 1990 and received her Q.C. in 2004.
