To provide opportunities for parents to increase their ability to parent more effectively, return to school, secure employment, have healthier relationships and connect with other community services. The Leadership Program provides leadership opportunities for teen parents to realize their potential and empower them to make a difference in their community. This is accomplished through developing public speaking/advocacy skills, increasing self confidence and social awareness of issues impacting teen parents and the broader community. |

To foster the independence and integration of Albertans living with disabilities by providing highly skilled Guide and/or Assistance Dogs and ongoing support. Dogs with Wings Assistance Society provides dogs specifically trained to deal with the challenges of Autism. The program was designed to provide increased safety for the child and to increase the quality of life for the child and the family. Other benefits of dogs working with children include calming the child, reducing emotional outbursts and service as a positive social link for the child to their home, school and community. |

To contribute to the healthy development of children in need and their families through provision of quality, one-to-one volunteer relationships and related programs. The 5Th Dimension is an after-school program that is comprised of university-school-community partnerships providing technology-based activities for youth and their families. This provides students with rich intellectual and social experiences that promote character and leadership development, academic skills and the ability to work and play effectively with others. |

Recognizing the Innovation & Creativity of Non-Profit Organizations
In keeping with this tradition, Duncan & Craig LLP has established the
Laurel Awards to honour non-profit organizations who further their objectives
through exceptional creativity and innovation.
1994 marked 100 years of continuous practice by Duncan & Craig LLP in
Edmonton. The Laurel Awards are a celebration of this centenary and of the
firm's ongoing commitment to community service.

The Laurel Awards will annually recognize the achievements of non-profit groups
in Edmonton and area.
Nominated achievements will be evaluated on the basis of their successful
innovation and creativity, regardless of size and overall budget. Nominees may
be contacted for additional information.
A maximum of three awards will be presented each year.Gold, silver and bronze
awards will be made each year supported with cash prizes of $3000, $2000, and
$1000 respectively.
